Hokkaido Daze

a.k.a. 北海道のデーズ

This is based on the monument at Cape Sayou, the Northernmost point of Japan.

I've never been there myself, and the only reason I know it exists is due to the dozens of times I've read Love Hina, but it is one of the places I'd most like to visit.

The Day side of the composition was based on a picture I found online; the Night side, however, was my own adaptation to it. Since I didn't have any visuals to really go off of, the night scene is a bit rougher than the day scene, but I guess it comes with trying to be spontaneous...

I used oil paint on canvas and made one hell of a mess...my hands are still a bit blue, even after a deep cleanse...
